Robert J. Weyer, 55, of Carol Stream and formerly of Brookfield, died July 2, 2014 at Hines V.A. Hospital.

Mr. Weyer moved to Brookfield in 1971, graduating from St. Barbara School in 1973 and from Lyons Township High School in 1977. From 1979 until 2009 he served in the Illinois Air National Guard, retiring at the rank of chief master sergeant.

For 35 years he owned and operated Benchmark Industries in Carol Stream. He was also a member of Glendale Heights VFW Post 2377 and an avid Chicago White Sox fan.

Mr. Weyer is survived by his wife, Gwynn A. Weyer (nee Duhr); his daughter, Nicolette Weyer; his mother, Mary Ann Weyer (nee Hornick); and his brothers, Michael (Karen McDaniels) Weyer and Chuck (Linda) Weyer.

He was preceded in death by his father, Edward Weyer, in 1994. 

A funeral Mass was celebrated July 8 at St. Francis Xavier Church in LaGrange, followed by interment at Queen of Heaven Cemetery in Hillside.
