Ronald W. Macey, 90, has died.

Born on May 26, 1929, he attended Holy Mount Grammar School in Cicero, Fenwick High school, Morton College, Chicago Tech and the School of the Art Institute of Chicago.

Mr. Macey proudly served in the U.S. Army as a courier during the Korean War and retired from Ragnar Benson as an architectural Illustrator. He was a member of Mater Christi Parish in North Riverside, where he was a lector and chaperone to youth groups.

In the past, he served as the Mater Christi Holy Name Society president and lent his artistic talents creating renderings, banners and bulletins to the church and Mater Christi School.

Mr. Macey was active, stayed current on politics, reading, and playing softball, golf, and tennis with family and friends. He and his wife, Elvera, also traveled extensively with friends, with Mr. Macey being the cinematographer of the group.

He lived a faith-filled life and was so grateful to be surrounded by family and friends.

Mr. Macey was the husband of Elvera C. Macey (nee Lemm); the father of Renee (George) Zdarsky; the grandfather of Maggie (Dan) Potempa and Alison Hurley (Ryan); the great-grandfather of Georgia, Malone and Sullivan Potempa; the brother of the late Rita (Bob) Tabor and Mary (Bill) Paxson; and an uncle and friend to many.

A memorial service and Mass will be held at Mater Christi Church, 2431 10th Ave. in North Riverside, on Saturday, Sept. 28 at 11 a.m.
