Betty Zanta, 85, retired commercial bank officer

Betty J. Zanta, 85, of Plainfield and formerly of Brookfield, died on Aug. 10, 2013 at her daughter's home.

In 1985, after more than 20 years of service, she retired as a commercial bank officer at LaGrange State Bank. She was a member of the Resurrection Singers of St. Barbara Parish.

Ms. Zanta is survived by her children, Diane (Andy) Chudzik, Dr. Carolyn (Dr. Rob Ewy) Zanta and Art (Mary) Zanta; her grandchildren, Raymond (Jennifer) Kemmerling, A.J. Zanta, Kristen (Kevin) Palos, and Emily and Kate Ewy; her great-grandchildren, Charlotte and Grace Kemmerling and Isabella, Annelise and Braelyn Palos; her sisters, Mary Ann (Chuck) Battaglia and the late Anne (Joe) Stibor, Pat (John) Deegan, Eleanor (Dan) Nedich and Lil (George) Filos; and her brothers, the late Laddie (Harry) Novak and Frank (Mary) Novak.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur J. Zanta, Sr. A funeral Mass was celebrated at St. Barbara Church, Brookfield, followed by interment at Queen of Heaven Cemetery.

Memorials to Misericordia Heart of Mercy, in care of Sister Rosemary Connelly, at 6300 N. Ridge Ave. in Chicago, 60660 are appreciated. Johnson Funeral Home, Brookfield, handled arrangements.
