A masked man displaying a handgun robbed Citibank, 9009 Ogden Ave. in Brookfield on the morning of Aug. 6, making off with an undisclosed amount of cash, Brookfield police have reported.
Police Chief Edward Petrak said that a man walked into the bank at about 10:15 a.m., walked up to a teller, displayed a small handgun and demanded money. The offender, whose face was partially covered by a black mask, was described as a black male about 6 feet tall, wearing a black hooded sweatshirt, gray sweatpants and carrying a gray tote bag.
The offender was last seen running westbound on Ogden Avenue. Police as of 11 a.m. on Tuesday had not made an arrest. The FBI was called to the scene to take over the investigation.
The Ogden Avenue location of Citibank was last robbed in January 2017. Prior to that incident, a bank robbery hadn't taken place in Brookfield for decades.
