Rev. Landahl was 'rock of stability'

It was with great sadness that I read about the death of Rev. Paul Landahl in the Landmark ("Rev. Paul Landahl, 82, Lutheran bishop served on RBHS board," Obituaries, Sept. 9).

Paul was a fabulous neighbor, pastor and school board member. As a longtime teacher at Riverside-Brookfield High School and a union officer, I had many meetings with Paul. He approached all issues with fairness and kindness.

He truly cared about his community and about the students at RB. He handled many difficult personal situations that arose at the high school and throughout the community. He was a rock of stability during turbulent times.

I felt honored to know him and to teach his children. My heart goes out to his family. He will be sorely missed, but I will never forget him.
