Huge investment of money, effort at Eight Corners

Opinion: Letters to the editor

The last couple week, I have read letters to the editor degrading me and what I am trying to accomplish at Eight Corners. The last letter ("A tale of two visions," Opinion, Aug. 22) referred to me as a retrograde element.

I am not sure what that means, but if that means someone who is taking three storefront buildings and bringing them up to code by replacing all plumbing, all electrical, all air conditioning, all furnaces, all walls, all floors, all hot-water heaters, all roofs and all new bathroom facilities, then I am guilty as charged.

This is costing hundreds of thousands of dollars, in addition to the cost of purchasing the buildings to help make Eight Corners something of which to be proud.

As anyone knows who has ever done a building project, getting permits, builders, roofers, carpenters, plumbers, electricians and inspectors scheduled takes and enormous amount of time.

Certainly, much more time that I would have hoped for, but in the end, I hope all of Brookfield will be proud of Eight Corners.
