The Burlington Northern-Santa Fe Railroad crossing at Maple Avenue in Brookfield remains closed to traffic two hours after an uncoupled freight car rolled through the intersection and derailed just east of the crossing on Dec. 27 at about 11:20 a.m.

A resident of the 2900 block of Prairie Avenue who may have mistakenly left the overhead door or service door to their garage open on the afternoon of Dec. 16 discovered that both the garage and a vehicle parked inside had been burglarized.

Riverside police on Dec. 2 announced they have obtained a warrant for the arrest of a 24-year-old Chicago man in connection with the theft of a vehicle from the 300 block of Lionel Road back in May 2018.
