Hazel L. Lang, 91, Former Brookfield resident
Hazel L. Lang (nee Perrine), 91, a Chicago resident who formerly lived in Brookfield, died Dec. 1, 2005 at the Methodist Home in Chicago.
Born in rural Saunemin, Ill. on March 15, 1914 to Earl and Mary Hazel (nee Greenough) Perrine, she married Charles J. Lang and raised two sons. Mr. Lang preceded his wife in death.
She is survived by her sons, James B. (Joyce) Lang and Thomas A. (Yvonne) Lang; her grandchildren, Jodi Lang, Jennifer Lang, Jeffrey Lang, Rachel Lang and Leah Rogers; and her great grandchildren, Kevin Lang, Jessica Lang and Ethen Rogers. Ms. Lang was preceded in death by her sister, Mary Siewerth.
Ms. Lang’s family conducted a funeral service on Dec. 6 at Hitzeman Funeral Home, Brookfield, followed by interment at Woodlawn Cemetery, Forest Park.
Margaret A. Lopatka, 86, Taught in Cicero schools
Margart A. Lopatka (Jirasek), a Brookfield resident who taught elementary school for nearly 40 years, died Nov. 30, 2005 at Foster G. McGaw Hospital on the campus of Loyola University Medical Center in Maywood. She was 86 years old.
Born April 13, 1919 in Chicago to Joseph A. and Anna (nee Hon) Jirasek, she was a teacher for some four decades, most recently with the Cicero elementary school district. She was also a dedicated choir member at St. Barbara Church in Brookfield.
Ms. Lopatka is survived by her husband of 57 years, J. Fred Lopatka; her two daughters, Karen (Ken) Van Swearingen and Veronica A. (Frank) Piotrowski; her sister, Anne (John) Kelly; and her sister, Rose Jirasek. She was preceded in death by her parents and by her brothers, Arnold and Frank Jirasek.
A funeral Mass, celebrated by the Rev. James P. Murphy, was held Dec. 5 at St. Barbara Church, Brookfield, followed by interment at Queen of Heaven Cemetery, Hillside.
Memorial donations from Masses were appreciated to the Salesian Missions Memorial, 2 Lefevfe Lane, P.O. Box 30, New Rochelle, N.Y. 10802-0030 or a favorite mission.

Lilyan J. Schmidt, 96, Worked at Western Electric
Lilyan J. Schmidt, 96, a longtime resident of North Riverside died Dec. 4, 2005 in Shabbona, Ill.
Ms. Schmidt was a clerical office worker at the Western Electric Company in Cicero prior to her retirement. She was a member of the telephone Pioneers of America, the CSA Fraternal Life and the North Riverside Golden Agers.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur. She is survived by her daughter, Judith (Richard) Mayer; and her grandchildren, Jesse and Dakota Mayer.
A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 7 at Kuratko Funeral Home, 2500 S. Desplaines Ave., North Riverside, followed by interment at Woodlawn Cemetery.
