A well-known Riverside-Brookfield High School teacher and coach resigned abruptly and without explanation last month.
After meeting in a closed executive session on Nov. 28, the District 208 school board accepted, with regret and without comment, the resignation of RB math teacher and assistant football coach Jerrold Blew. Blew’s resignation becomes effective at the end of the first semester, but he will be on paid leave until that time according to those familiar with the situation.
Blew has taught math for 14 years at RB and has been the defensive coordinator of the football team as well as serving as an assistant athletic director.
RB Principal/Superintendent Jack Baldermann confirmed the resignation, but said that he could not comment on the circumstances that led to it because it was a personnel matter.
When contacted by telephone at his home last week and asked about his resignation, Blew said that he had no comment.
A previously published report in another newspaper indicated that an unidentified RB teacher was suspended in November for allegedly verbally harassing female students. When asked whether Blew’s resignation was connected to that report Baldermann said he could not comment.
