Linda S. Campbell, 57, Loved gardening
Linda Susan Campbell (nee Nickipuck), 57, a resident of Riverside, died Jan. 14, 2006 at Rush University Hospital in Chicago.
Born Oct. 2, 1948 in Chicago to Walter and Niccolina Nickipuck, she was one of six children, and grew up in Berwyn. She married Steven Campbell in June of 1980, and the couple had one child.
Ms. Campbell loved gardening and landscape design, and served on Riverside’s Landscape Advisory Commission for several years. She could also be found in recent years planting flowers and other plants near the Congress Park train station in Brookfield, an area she had unofficially adopted.
“She reclaimed half of that little island,” said her husband, Steven Campbell.
Ms. Campbell is survived by her husband, Steven; her daughter, Carly Campbell; her brother, Michael Nickipuck; her sisters, Patty (Neal) Kiewiet, Nancy (Robert) Brewer, Janice (Brian) Evener and Diane (Larry) Tabb; and 13 nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held Feb. 4 at 2 p.m. at Christ Church of Oakbrook, 31st Street and York Road. Mount Auburn Cemetery, Stickney, handled arrangements.
Adele A. Maxant, 94, Former Riverside resident
Adele A. Maxant (nee Zimmerman), 94, a former resident of Riverside and Oakbrook, died Jan. 21, 2006 at her home in Lombard.
Ms. Maxant was born Nov. 21, 1911 in Oak Park to Paul and Elma (nee Hosler) Zimmerman. She married Edwin A. Maxant, and raised two daughters. Mr. Maxant preceded his wife in death.
She is survived by her daughter, Judith A. (Bruce) Beem; her grandchildren, Judith Phillip, Russ Phillip, Kirsten Frydle, Derek Phillip and Ronald Beem; her great grandchild, Dakota Phillip; her sister, Elaine (the late Charles) Taylor; and her son-in-law, Russell (Lorelei) Phillip of LaGrange. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Carol Ann Phillip.
Visitation will be Wednesday, Jan. 25 from 10 to 11 a.m. at Hitzeman Funeral Home, 9445 31st St. in Brookfield. A funeral service, officiated by the Rev. Kenneth Lehman, will be held at Hitzeman Funeral Home on Wednesday, Jan. 25 at 11 a.m., followed by interment at Forest Home Cemetery.
