St. Mary of Riverside track team won the Chicago Catholic Youth Organization Meet on May 27, outperforming 27 opponents.
Individual 7th and 8th grade winners included Aaron Luna in the mile, and Theresa Dunham in the high jump. Sixth grade and under winners were Magdalena O’Connor in the long jump, and Carolyn Paneral in the shot put. Paneral also placed third in the high jump.
Joe Garcia placed third in the 6th grade 800-meter run.
Medalists in the relay races included Garcia, Chris Reggi, Joe Kelly, and Lin Xianofeng (800 relay, 6th grade, third place); Magdalena O’Connor, Racquel Rodriguez, Jocelyn Moreno and Julia Alvarado (400 relay, 6th grade, first place); Matt Crook, Brian Moreno, Alex Rodriguez, Andrew Aviles (400 relay, 8th grade, third place); Gia Reggi, Caitlin Dunham, Maggie Sundry, and Caitlin Katsis (400 relay, 8th grade, third place).
