Officials of the Riverside Township Lions Club have announced that 26 organizations will share $9,950 in the club’s annual distribution of funds.
The Riverside Township Lions Club donates to organizations that provide services to the blind and deaf, as well as to organizations that assist children and adults who are disabled or have special needs. Financial support also is provided to a number of local charities and organizations.
Organizations serving Riverside Township that received donations again this year include the North Riverside and Riverside public libraries to purchase materials for the hearing-impaired and visually-impaired, the anti-drug programs at Riverside-Brookfield High School and Hauser Junior High School in Riverside, PeopleCare in Riverside, the Riverside District 96 Elementary Education Foundation, the Riverside Fourth of July Fund, Boy Scout Troops 24 and 92, Girl Scouts, and Explorer Post 390, sponsored by the Riverside Police Department.
Other west suburban organizations receiving donations again this year include Community Care Options in Berwyn, Helping Hand Rehabilitation Center in Countryside, Scottish Home in North Riverside, Seguin Services Inc. in Cicero and the Southwest Suburban Center of Aging in LaGrange.
In addition, donations were given again this year to the Chicago Lighthouse for the Blind, Chicagoland Radio Information Services, Guild for the Blind, Hadley School for the Blind, Recording for the Blind and Chicago Hearing Society.
Donations also were made to Camp Lions, Vision First and Sight First, endeavors associated with Lions International.
