The Lyons Township girls swim team finished second at its own sectional on Saturday, and qualified for the upcoming IHSA State Meet in five events.
The Lions’ Kristie Carling finished second in the diving event with a final score of 381.45, while Sarah Norris and GiGi Groya qualified for state with outstanding swims in the 100-backstroke. Norris won the event with a time of 58.79 seconds. Groya, a freshman, finished fourth in 59.88 seconds.
Lyons Township also qualified its 200-yard medley relay (1:50.00, second place), its 200-yard freestyle relay (1:38.28, first place), and its 400-yard freestyle relay (3:37.85, fourth place) for state.
Hinsdale Central won the sectional with a score of 297, while the Lions garnered a score of 227.5 for the runner-up position.
