Bulldogs take game to The Max
Team escapes cold weather for 5-1 win over Lane Tech
The Riverside Brookfield softball team pushed its record to 3-1 with two victories last week. The Bulldogs were able to dodge the chilly spring weather on Friday by taking on Lane Tech at The Max, an indoor ballpark in McCook. The result was a 5-1 victory for RB, who had edged Nazareth 4-2 the previous day.
Lindsey Hayes notched the win for the Bulldogs, yielding just two hits and two walks in four innings, while fanning six. Emma Forsberg closed out the game with eight strikeouts.
Forsberg also did most of the damage at the plate for RB, smashing a double down the left field line in the fifth inning to score a run. April Hutchens then drove in Forsberg with a single.
Forsberg secured the win over Nazareth, fanning 11 in seven innings. Hayes finished with two RBIs in that win.
Saturday’s game against Addison Trail was cancelled due to weather.
The Bulldogs host York for a doubleheader on Saturday.
