Samantha Oberholtzer led the Riverside Brookfield girls cross-country team to first place by winning the Metro Suburban Conference Meet on Saturday.
Oberholtzer timed out on the 3-mile course in 19:42. Teammate Jacki Grisafe followed close behind. Grisafe rounded out third place in 20:16.
RB’s Anna Tess took sixth in 20:53 and Sydney Oberholtzer ninth in 21:34.
RB boys finish second
The Riverside Brookfield boys cross-country team finished second at the Metro Suburban Conference Meet on Saturday.
Fenton ran away with first place, having three runners finish in the top three spots. But Justin Pomey helped the Bulldogs secure a score of 59 for runner-up by finishing fifth overall in 17:25.
Volleyball clinches
share of MSC
The Riverside Brookfield volleyball team clinched at least a share of the Metro Suburban Conference with a 25-10, 25-22 win over Ridgewood last week.
Regan Riley, Kalie McDonald and Molly McCloskey all finished with four kills apiece in the win. Claire Chaney contributed two aces and one dig, while Abbie Fralicx dished out 12 assists.
Lyons wins sectional
The Lyons Township tennis team won its own sectional on Saturday.
The Lions’ Hadley Burke qualified for state by battling her way to the doubles championship. Burke lost in the title match 7-6 (8-6), 6-1.
The Lions closed out the tournament with a score of 23, while Hinsdale South finished second with a 15.
Hostettler takes fourth
Jack Hostettler led the Lyons Township boys cross-country team to second place at the West Suburban (Silver) Conference Meet on Saturday.
Hostettler finished fourth overall with a time of 15:36. Mike Janusek took seventh in 15:45 and Sam Telfer eighth in 15:51.
York won the meet with a score of 29.
LT girls cross country
finishes third
The Lyons Township girls cross-country team finished third at the West Suburban Silver Meet at Saturday.
Katherine Rehn led the Lions by placing second overall with a time of 18:23. Kelsey Kilrea finished ninth in 18:46.
The Lyons garnered a score of 54, while Hinsdale Central took first with a 39.
