Downtown Brookfield is hosting a trick-or-treat party for kids and grown-ups early Saturday afternoon.

From noon to 3 p.m. Oct. 25, during the 10th annual Monsters on Mainstreet celebration, kids can go trick-or-treating at any business on Grand Boulevard and Broadway that has a Halloween pumpkin sign on its storefront.

Adults can join in on the fun starting at 2:30 p.m., when taffy apples and pumpkins will be given out to the first 500 folks in costumes. Last year’s party drew nearly 1,500 people downtown, so plan accordingly.

At about 3 p.m., there will be a costume contest at Brookfield Historical Society’s Grossdale Station, 8820 Brookfield Ave. Judging will be in three categories-scariest, funniest and most creative-and in four age groups, including grown-ups.

The annual event is sponsored by the Brookfield Chamber of Commerce and the Brookfield Historical Society.
