A total of 150 students at Riverside-Brookfield High School have earned AP Scholar awards in recognition of their achievements on Advanced Placement exams last spring.
The Advanced Placement program provides students with the opportunity to take college-level courses while still in high school and earn college credit. About 18 percent of the 1.6 million students worldwide who took AP exams performed at a high enough level to earn an AP Scholar award.
The College Board, which operates the AP program, recognizes several levels of achievement based on performance on AP exams.
At RB, eight students qualified for the National AP Scholar award by earning an average grade of 4 or higher on a 5-point scale on all AP Exams taken, and grades of 4 or higher on eight or more of these exams.
These students are Riverside residents Marius Aleksa, Libby Bova, Nadia Danford, Matthew Nie and Lindsey Stirek; Brookfield residents Elizabeth Baratta and William Comrie; and North Riverside resident Ruth Osbrink.
Meanwhile, 42 students qualified for the AP Scholar with Distinction award by earning an average grade of at least 3.5 on all AP exams taken, and grades of 3 or higher on five or more of these exams.
These students include Riverside residents Aleksa, Bova, Catherine Bruton, Claire Chaney, Danford, Catherine DeMuro, Phillip Dluhy, Abigail Fralick, Chelsea Goldsmith, Madeleine King, Patrick Leary, William Lusthoff, Jordan Messner, Nie, William O’Connor, Sabrina Olsen, Carrie Peterson, Kevin Piersialla, Alex Shaw, Amanda Sion, Stirek, Hannah Toriumi, Elizabeth Welch and Andrea Wodzinski; Brookfield residents Baratta, Evan Bartlett, Comrie, Patrick DeWeese, Anna Drake, Margaret Fuener, Daniel Gonzalez, Michelle Krankoski, Regina McCormick, Timothy McCormick, Colleen Morrissey, Audrey Sova, Thea Stehlik-Barry and Sheela Turbek; and North Riverside residents Evan Munch, Osbrink, Raquel Sylvie and Matthew Waas.
In addition, 27 students qualified for the AP Scholar with Honor award by earning an average grade of at least 3.25 on all AP exams taken, and grades of 3 or higher on four or more of these exams.
These students are Riverside residents James Beedle, Kieran Brennan, Benjamin Corpuz, Eleonora Daskalova, Ellen Farnham, Lindsay Hayes, McClelland Kemp, Jennifer Kubeczko, Spencer Moravek and Alexandra Musial; Brookfield residents Ellie Bergstrom, Samuel Brown, Allison Curry, Miles Evers, Benjamin James, Jacqueline Janney, Aleksandr Knasiak, Mark Landess, William Moriarity, Kristal Petrovich and Jessica Steele; LaGrange Park resident Christopher Signore; and North Riverside residents Luis Amaya, Lauren Endriukaitis, Harry Kalsted, Ilya Morozyuk and Mark Wolak.
Finally, 73 students qualified for the AP Scholar award by earning grades of 3 or higher on three or more AP exams.

Certified
Riverside’s director of parks and recreation, Laure Kosey, has been granted certification as a playground safety inspector from the National Recreation and Park Association National Playground Safety Institute. The certification is in effect for the next three years.
