After attending the AAUW candidates’ forum for the District 96 school board elections, I couldn’t help but conclude that the future of District 96 is in good hands.
Every single one of the candidates running in this election could do an outstanding job if elected. That being said, I do believe that several candidates stood out above the rest. Chief among them was Jennifer Leimberer.
I had not met Ms. Leimberer prior to last Saturday’s forum, but I was extremely impressed by her thoughtful responses to questions posed to her during the forum and in a 30 minute discussion I had with her after the forum.
It’s clear to me that Ms. Leimberer’s 20-year background as a teacher, education researcher and in curriculum development would be a tremendous asset to the District 96 school board. I am convinced she would bring some innovative concepts and fresh ideas to an already strong school board.
In addition to Ms. Leimberer, I was also very impressed by the incumbent candidate, Nancy Jensen and by Linda LaBelle. These three talented women will be getting my vote on April 7 and I encourage others to support them as well.
