Riverside police today released a sketch of the man who held up a local coffee shop Tuesday morning. In addition to the drawing, police have released a detailed description of the person who robbed the manager of Grumpy’s Café, 35 E. Burlington, as she was getting ready to open the shop at 5:30 a.m.

The man is described as Hispanic, in his late teens or early 20s, about 5-foot-10 and 125 pounds. He has a crooked front tooth, was clean shaven with a buzz-style haircut and long sideburns. He was wearing a dark colored stocking cap, dark collared jacket, blue jeans, dirty white gym shoes and was carrying a khaki backpack.The man spoke with a heavy Spanish accent.

According to police, the man approached the manager outside the back door of the business, asking when the next train was due to arrive. The manager went inside to get a train schedule, and the man followed her.

Once inside, he displayed a small, dark-colored semiautomatic pistol and demanded that the manager give him money from the cash register. After being handed $84, the man fled westbound along the Burlington Northern-Santa Fe Railroad tracks.
