Cesar Vazquez, the man accused of robbing a local restaurant manager at gunpoint, pleaded not guilty to the charge in court on Friday.

Vazquez, 21, entered the plea in front of Judge Thomas Tucker at the Maybrook courthouse and is scheduled to appear again on June 4 in Room 108 at Maybrook for a pretrial status hearing.

According to Riverside police, Vazquez robbed the manager of Grumpy’s Café, 35 E. Burlington St., at 5:30 a.m. on March 31. Vazquez reportedly approached the victim behind the business, asking her about train schedules, He then followed her inside the business where he allegedly pulled out a gun and demanded money.

On April 10, Vazquez was arrested in Berwyn on an unrelated charge and identified by the Grumpy’s victim the next day in a lineup. At the time of the March 31 incident, Vazquez was out on bond for a robbery he allegedly committed in Berwyn in January.

He remains held without bond at Cook County Jail.
