A LaGrange man charged by Riverside police with eight counts of burglary to a motor vehicle was arrested again in Riverside last week as he was driving through the village.

At the time of his arrest on July 30, John Kimbrough was wanted on eight outstanding warrants by Cook County Sheriff’s Police for failing to appear in court to answer to Riverside’s charges against him.

A Riverside police officer on patrol at 12:40 a.m. stated he saw Kimbrough, 33, drive by him in the opposite direction. The officer not only recognized the driver as the man he arrested six months ago for allegedly burglarizing over a dozen vehicles, he also knew that Kimbrough was wanted on the warrants.

At first during the ensuing traffic stop, police said, Kimbrough tried to use his brother’s name, but came to realize that the officer making the traffic stop was the one who charged him in January.

Despite his arrest on the warrants, Kimbrough, a former Riverside Lawn resident, remains free after posting $800 bond at his bond hearing late last week.
