The Lyons Township girls golf team downed West Suburban (Silver) Conference foe Downers Grove North 183-203 in their first home match at LaGrange Country Club last week. Sophomore Madline Gosz led LT by shooting a 44. Juniors Maggie Jacobson (45), Alyssa Lies (47) and Lindsay Purpura (47) turned out excellent performances.

“It was our first home match and we hadn’t even played a practice round on the course yet,” said LT head coach Brad Anderson. “Several of my girls had never even set foot on the course before.”

Riverside residents win triathlon division

Riverside residents Jenny Brundage, Tina Duve and Donna Keller took first place in their division of the Chicago Accenture Triathlon on Saturday.

The group, known as the Gauntlet Gals, finished first in the International Relay Division with a time of 2:36.10. Brundage swan, while Duve biked and Keller ran.

Another Riverside resident, Kathy Braun, finished third in her individual division.

Fenwick boys golf

The Friars finished third at the Mt. Carmel Invitational at The Meadows in Blue Island. Mike Sullivan led the Friars with a 74, while Tim Tynan finished with a 77. Mike Kwasigroch and Bob Besio both finished with 80s.

Fenwick volleyball

The Friars fell to Hinsdale Central 18-25, 13-25 last week. Senior Carriann Soukal had 14 digs in the loss, while junior Jenna Vondrasek added 12 assists and 13 digs. Sarah Hunt led Fenwick in kills with seven.

Fenwick soccer

The Friars fell to Glenbard South 2-1 on Saturday. Mark Finan scored Fenwick’s lone goal on a penalty kick.

Swim club registration

The Riverside Brookfield Otters Swim Club is holding registration on Sept. 14 and 15 from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. outside the high school pool.
