Officials at Hollywood School in Brookfield confirmed that one student has been diagnosed with the H1N1 virus. In a letter posted yesterday on the District 96 Web site, Interim Principal Mindy Keller states that educators are “working with the Cook County Public Health Department to monitor the situation, and at this time, the school will remain open and operating normally.”
According to the letter, Keller told parents that maintenance staff is doing a thorough daily cleaning of classrooms and common areas. Hand sanitizers have been placed in each classroom and students are being reminded not to share items like paper towels and tissues.
Keller is also asking parents to keep home children who are experiencing any flu-like symptoms and keep them home until 24 hours after the symptoms disappear.
“Let me assure you that the health and well being of our students is my top priority, and we are doing everything possible to address the situation,” Keller stated in her letter posted on the district’s Web site.
