With Brookfield in the grips of census fever – the village’s official committee has gone all out to encourage residents to fill out their census forms – the village’s historical society will present a special program on Friday, March 26 on the first two census efforts (1900 and 1910) in the village.
Eleanor Wheeler of Brookfield has compiled a large binder full of census information over many years and presented her findings to the Brookfield Historical Society several months ago.
With the 2010 census in full swing, historical society officials felt it was appropriate to have her present her findings – for example, in 1900 Brookfield had just 637 residents – publicly.
Wheeler will discuss some of the highlights she found and how the data might be of use to area residents and others.
The meeting starts at 7:30 p.m. at the Grossdale Station, 8820½ Brookfield Ave. Admission is free.
