Riverside-Brookfield’s Alexis Adams finished third in the discus and 12th in the shot put at the Class 2A Girls State Track and Field Meet held at Eastern Illinois University’s O’Brien Stadium in Charleston on Saturday.

Adams tossed the discus 125-feet-1-inch, and the shot put 36-1 1/4.

Brenna Mossman finished 12th in the long jump for the Bulldogs, leaping to a distance of 16-10.

RB boys track and field

Peter Lyson qualified for the Class 2A Boys State Track and Field Meet by winning the 800-meter run at the Glenbard South Sectional last week. Lyson finished with a time of 2:05.96.

Riverside-Brookfield’s 4 x 800-meter and 4 x 400-meter relay teams also qualified for this weekend’s state meet. Lyson, Keegan Buttimer, Mark McDonagh and Alex Amaya took first in the 4 x 800 with a time of 8:06.22. Justin Pomey, Jason Pomey, Kirk Razon and Amaya finished second in the 4 x 400-meter relay in 3:27.02.

RB volleyball

The Riverside-Brookfield volleyball team geared up for the state playoffs by grabbing two victories last week.

The Bulldogs (19-16) downed Fenton 25-12, 25-13 behind Juan Gomez-Velez’s nine kills, an ace and a block. Galen Ryan (6 digs) and Mack Fieseler added three kills each.

Earlier in the week, RB defeated Illiana Christian 25-17, 25-16. Gomez-Velez tallied nine kills in this win to go along with an ace and four digs. Elliot Louthen paced the offense with 20 assists. He also had three digs. Ryan tallied five digs and had two kills and two aces.

The Bulldogs took on either Nazareth or Kenwood last night (after deadline) in their own regional.

Fenwick girls track and field

Margaret Connelly finished 10th overall in the 3200-meter run at the Class 3A State Track and Field Finals held at O’Brien Stadium in Charleston on Saturday. Connelly finished with a time of 10:49.64.

Fenwick boys track and field

The Friars finished second (77 points) behind Oak Park at the Class 3A Fenwick Sectional last week.

Dan Nierzwicki finished second in the 110-meter high hurdles (14.78), while Matt Shannon placed runner-up in the 800-meter run (2:00.36). Martin Brady finished third and qualified for state in the 3200-meter run with a time of 9:14.21.

Fenwick soccer

The Fenwick soccer team’s season came to an end on Friday with a 3-2 loss in penalty kicks to Morton in the Morton Regional title game.

The Friars, who close out the season with a record of 12-10-2, opened the playoffs by thrashing 11th-seeded Reavis 8-0. Senior forward Alyssa Giaccolone led the Friars with three goals in the win. Claire Madden added two, while Colleen Madden, Holly Sutton and Mary Kate Hussey each chipped in one apiece.
