KOSEY CORNER
Big reunion year at the Kosey house! And when I say “big reunion year” I mean we’re talking about the class of 1960, you can do the math. Yep, it was 50 years ago that Husband Joe graduated from Riverside-Brookfield High School and I graduated from Nazareth Academy.

Preparing for the RB reunion was almost as much fun as attending. I got to be on the planning committee and worked with some people I had not known well before, so now I have some new friends.

Normally, the reunion consists of three main events – golf outing, dinner with the class and a casual evening “open” night for other class years. The golf outing was canceled, but it had nothing to do with people’s ages. And the entire weekend was casual – no one wants to get dressed up anymore, and I didn’t see one pair of three-inch heels in the place, so that tells you something.

The class get-together at Katherine Legge Lodge was an evening of barbecue, trivia, a slide presentation and lively conversation. The open night at the VFW hall in Berwyn featured Dr. Pizza pizzas, White Castle hamburgers and Elvis. Yep, it was an Elvis impersonator young enough to be the son of everyone present, but he put on a good show. There was enough picture-taking to fill many albums or CDs. If you didn’t have a camera there were disposable ones available and which were later collected.

Sure there were a few more gray hairs and a few added pounds, but none of that mattered. Everybody looked great. With people coming from California, Arizona and other points east and west, it was a weekend to share good thoughts and good friends.

In remembering when the class confiscated the monkey sign from the Brookfield Zoo parking lot (that was brought up many times), seeing high school sweethearts who are still married, catching up with old friends, and meeting new ones, it was a weekend to cherish. The committee will continue to meet and make plans for the next reunion and how we can all stay in touch. Fun!

So now I prepare for my Nazareth reunion in October – a luncheon at the LaGrange Country Club – so I will get out the bottle of Oil of Olay and douse myself in hopes that some of the wrinkles disappear. More memories to be made.
