Longtime Riverside resident Joseph P. Dulla, 82, died Sept. 28, 2010.
Mr. Dulla was born on Nov. 21, 1927, and served in the U.S. Army shortly after the Korean War, stationed in Japan as a medical technician. After his time in the service, Mr. Dulla owned and operated Dulla Pharmacy in Cicero for many years, eventually selling the business and finishing his career at a pharmacy in Glen Ellyn.
Known to family members as “Papa Joe” and “Junior,” Mr. Dulla was described as “a dedicated husband and father who always put others ahead of himself. He cared for his late wife, Mary Ann during her long periods of illness while battling chronic arthritis himself. He loved spending time with his children, grandchildren and friends in Riverside. Only recently, Mr. Dulla moved to Western Springs to live next door to his son, Mike. He also enjoyed fishing and was an avid competitive bridge player.
Mr. Dulla is survived by his children, Karen (Rob) Trabert Vala, Jay (Patti) Dulla, Chris (Cindy) Dulla and Mike (Kate) Dulla; his grandchildren, Todd (Janice) Trabert, Ashley Trabert, Jeff Dulla, Rachel Dulla, Lindsey Dulla, Zach Dulla, Jack Dulla, Emmy Dulla and Izzy Dulla; and many nieces, nephews and friends.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Ann Dulla, and his sister, Marian Harris.
A funeral Mass was celebrated at St. Mary Church in Riverside on Oct. 4, followed by interment at Queen of Heaven Cemetery.
