The Lyons Township boys basketball team slipped past Sandburg 63-60 on Saturday by having four players score in double digits.

Eric Powers, Dylan Fielder and Illinois State-bound Nick Zeisloft each scored 13 points apiece for the Lions, who boosted their overall record to 5-1. Nick Burt added 11 points for Lyons.

RB wrestling

John Schraidt took first place at heavyweight at the Rex Lewis Memorial Tournament hosted by Buffalo Grove on Saturday. Others who placed for RB at the tournament included, Eduardo Orihuela, Mike Cardenas, Andrew Misiorowski and Vinny Zaccagnini.

The Bulldogs finished with a score of 77 for eighth place.

RB swimming

Fitz Robling won the 50-yard freestyle at a tri-meet against Oak Park and Downers Grove South last week. Robling timed out in 23.87 seconds.

The Bulldogs finished third with a final score of 75. Oak Park won the meet with a score of 130.

Fenwick swimming

The Fenwick swim opened its season by crushing cross-town rival 120-79 last week.

The Friars picked up seven first-place finishes in the meet, including all three relays. Eric Bell, Bryce Peters, Ryan Greenway and Connor Brown won the 200-yard medley relay in 1:42.19. Greenway, Brown, White and Viken Huening took first in the 200-yard freestyle relay in 1:30.77. The 400-yard relay made up of Bell, Brown, White and Greenway took first in 3:25.86.

Brown also won the 100-yard freestyle in a time of 49.32 seconds, while Peters also took first in the 100-yard butterfly (57.92 seconds).

“This was a great season opener against our cross-town rivals,” said Fenwick head coach Luke McGuire. “There were some great swims by both teams.”
