The Lyons Township soccer team grabbed its 15th shutout of the season with a 1-0 victory over West Suburban (Silver) Conference rival Oak Park last week. Freshman Emily Lange scored the winning goal with an assist by Coco Corrigan.

“We’re very pleased with the win against OPRF,” LT coach Will Lanspeary said. “Our possession was good for the most part, but we still need to generate more out of our attack.”

LT also cruised past Proviso West 6-0 last week.

The victory put Lyons (16-3-1, 5-0) in a tie with York for the conference title. The two teams were scheduled to meet last night (Tuesday, May 10, after deadline).

LT baseball

The Lions (24-2, 16-1 West Suburban [Silver] Conference) remained red-hot by sweeping Downers Grove North 10-0 and 13-1 in a conference doubleheader on Saturday. Senior right-hander Zach Remigas (7-0) picked up the Game 1 win, tossing a four-hitter and fanning seven. Mike Pett paced the offense with a home run and three RBIs. In Game 2, talented sophomore Keith Lehmann (5-1) struck out seven in a complete-game effort. Connor Cuff belted a three-run homer and Pett added a three-run triple for the Lions.

RB volleyball

The Riverside-Brookfield boys volleyball team won a pair of nonconference three-game thrillers last week. The Bulldogs (19-7) edged St. Charles East 25-18, 19-25, 26-24 on Thursday. Several milestones were reached for RB during the hard-fought match as Alex Dziagwa tallied a career-high 14 kills and Elliot Louthen matched his career-high in assists (33) for the third time this season. Collectively, the Bulldogs also recorded a season-high 45 kills with Gordon Fieseler and Ben Bergstrom registering 11 kills apiece. Stephen McCroary had 11 digs to lead the RB defense.

Riverside-Brookfield also defeated Hinsdale South 25-21, 22-25, 25-22 last week.

RB boys track and field

The Bulldogs finished in 16th place by scoring 14 points at the 44th Annual Carlin Nalley Invitational on Saturday. The 3200 relay team of Travis Trevizo, Alex Amaya, Keegan Buttimer, and John Kingzette garnered first with a time of 8:02.50.

RB soccer

The Bulldogs dropped a pair of games last week – 5-1 to Elmwood Park and 4-1 to Argo. Carmen Shelbrack scored a goal against Elmwood Park and Bridget Brewer netted the Bulldogs’ lone goal against Argo.

LT girls track and field

Lyons edged rival Hinsdale Central by a point (106-105) to finish second behind winner Glenbard West (139.6) in the West Suburban (Silver) Championship in Glen Ellyn on Saturday.

Junior Julie Dambra took first in the 400 meter dash (57.17), third in the 200 meter dash (25.62), and third in the long jump (17-5.25). Nina Madjer won the high jump (5-2) for LT, while Simone Bunsen finished second in the 300 meter hurdles (46.33) and Makayla Hubbard was a runner-up in the shot put (35-2). The Lions’ 1,600 meter relay team of Bunsen, Sarah Kreikemeier, Stephanie Mogorovic and Anna Rogers took first with a time of 4:00.08.
