Stan R. Kaiser, 98, of Arlington Heights and formerly of Riverside, died May 16, 2011.
Mr. Kaiser was born April 26, 1913 in Sorica, Slovenia, and immigrated to the U.S. in 1920. During World War II, he served in the U.S. Army in the Counter Intelligence Corps and was stationed in England and France.
After the war, Mr. Kaiser married Marie D. Korenchan. They were married 64 years, until Mrs. Kaiser’s death. He worked as a special agent for the U.S. Treasury Department for 30 years and later as an investigator for the Illinois Attorney General’s office.
In retirement, Mr. and Mrs. Kaiser traveled the world and continued to play golf until the past few years. In 2010, Mr. Kaiser and his daughter, Madeleine, went on the Honor Flight Chicago with 90 other World War II veterans to Washington, D.C. to see the World War II Memorial.
According to his family, Mr. Kaiser was extremely moved by the events of the day and said it was one of his most treasured memories. Mr. Kaiser was a member of St. Mary Parish for 50 years and served as an usher at Mass every Sunday.
Mr. Kaiser is survived by his children, Madeleine (Duane) McDonald and Marc (Joan) Kaiser; his grandchildren, John, Luke, Eve, Hanna, Matthew and Carrie Kaiser; his sister, Ann (the late Dick) Sostek; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his wife, Mr. Kaiser was preceded in death by his son, Jay (Jean) Kaiser; his sisters, Theresa Kaiser and Mary (the late Tony) Luzar; and his brothers, Frank Kaiser and Nick (Claire) Kaiser.
A funeral Mass was celebrated May 19 at St. Mary Church, followed by entombment at Queen of Heaven Cemetery, Crucifixion Garden Mausoleum.
