Brookfield resident John E. Light, 70, died July 24, 2011 at LaGrange Memorial Hospital.
Born March 3, 1941 in Mahopac, N.Y., to William F. Light Sr. and Gladys Olge, Mr. Light served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. He worked as a driver for a concrete company.
Mr. Light is survived by his wife, Roberta J. Light (nee Ogle), of Brookfield; his children, Rebecca (fiancé Rich Lanting) Brown-Day, Robin (Danny) Wise and Rachel (David) Vallas; his grandchildren, Tim Day, Natalie Brown, Edward Colon Jr., Amanda Wise, Kristena Johnson-Wise, Matthew Wise, Hunter Vallas and Avery Vallas; his great-grandson, Isaiah Robertson; his brother, William F. (Cynthia) Light; his sister, Florence (Philip) Furu; nine nieces and nephews; his brother-in-law, Randall (Mella) Ogle and his sister-in-law Kim Ogle. He was preceded in death by his sisters, Vera (Louis) Sweet and Margaret Light, and his brother-in-law, Scott (Carole Volenec) Ogle.
A funeral service was held July 29 at St. John Lutheran Church in LaGrange, followed by interment at Mount Auburn Cemetery in Stickney.
