The combination of quarterback Brian Owens and wide receiver Ryan Kelleher powered Hinsdale Central to a West Suburban (Silver) Conference win over visiting Lyons Township on Saturday.
Owens (30-for-38, 350 yards) set single-game school records in completions and passing attempts, while Kelleher (17 catches, 157 yards) set a school record for receptions in a game.
Lyons scored its touchdown on Jaime Jones’ 80-yard run late in the fourth quarter. Quarterback Connor Onion went 6-for-10 for 55 yards for the Lions (2-3, 1-2 West Suburban Silver).
The Lions host Oak Park on Saturday at 1:30 p.m.
RB boys Golf
The Bulldogs’ Austin Adamec and Jack Kemper both carded 42s but the Bulldogs fell to Illiana Christian 158-182 last week. Nazareth also defeated RB 171-196. Kemper shot a 45 and Luca Melone a 49 against the Roadrunners.
RB volleyball
The Bulldogs (11-6, 4-2 Metro Suburban) picked up a pair of conference wins over Ridgewood 25-17, 25-17 and Illiana Christian 25-17, 25-20 last week. Alleigh VandeMerkt had four kills, four assists and four digs against Ridgewood, while Hannah Claywell (4 kills, 7 digs), Heather Conway (5 digs) and Lizzy Hawk (11 assists) also contributed to the win. Elena Duve tallied nine kills and eight digs against Illiana Christian.
RB tennis
Plainfield Central won Saturday’s RB Invitational with 37 points, while the Bulldogs scored 32 for second place. Elk Grove (25) and Addison Trail (13) rounded out the field. RB singles player Madison Powers won two matches to earn a third-place medal, while the Bulldogs’ teams of Salem Baer-Caitlin Boxell and Sarah Benya-Adrienne Witek also captured third place medals.
Earlier last week, RB split a pair of dual matches, beating Willowbrook 7-0 before losing to Glenbard South 6-1.
LT boys golf
The Lions won their own quad meet on Saturday with a team score of 299, followed by Fenwick (317), Nazareth (341) and St. Ignatius (375). Co-medalists were LT golfers Kevin Carlson and Ryan Hudson, who both shot 73s.
LT girls golf
Ciara Rattana fired a 72 and Emma Pasquinelli shot an 83 as the Lions finished runner-up at Saturday’s Sandburg Invite. Marian Catholic (310) won the team title and the medalist was Marian Catholic’s Sylvie Brick who shot a 68
LT swimming
The Lions fell to Hinsdale Central 113-73 in a West Suburban (Silver) Conference dual meet last week. The Lions’ 200-yard freestyle relay team of Kristine Rosenberger, Louisa Hoffman, Elly Vitek and Jennifer Weigand finished first with a time of 1:45.34. LT individual event winners included: Hoffman (50-yard freestyle/25.32), Weigand (500-yard freestyle/5:10.21) and Vitek, who won both the 100-yard freestyle (54.43 seconds) and 200-yard freestyle (1:56.76).
LT girls cross-country
LT took fifth place with a 201 score at the Palatine Invitational on Saturday. Lisa Gordon ran to a time of 17:41 to finish eighth among the top individuals. Assumption (Ky.) won the team title by scoring an 80.
LT volleyball
The Lions (15-5) finished second in the Rich East tournament over the weekend. Mother McAuley edged the Lions 25-19, 25-21 in the championship match. Alexis Viliunas had seven kills and 13 assists, while Alyssa Keeve (4 kills), Laura Williams and Catherine King (3 kills apiece) also played well for LT.
The Lions advanced to the final via a 25-23, 25-10 semifinal victory against Providence. Viliunas and Williams, who have signed with Illinois and Duke, respectively, were named to the all-tournament team.
