Fenwick       28
De La Salle 21

Fenwick running back Jack Stibich celebrated his school’s Senior Day mostly in the end zone on Saturday afternoon.

The senior tailback ran for three touchdowns to help his team to a 28-21 victory over De La Salle in the regular season finale at Morton West Stadium.

Stibich (94 rushing yards, 14 carries) scored Fenwick’s first two touchdowns of the day, one from 12 yards out, and another from 30, both coming in the first quarter. He scored again with 5:52 left in the third quarter on an 18-yard run to give the Friars a 28-14 lead.

Casey Brandtonies hit Chris Lisenby for a 3-yard touchdown in the second quarter to put the Meteors on the board.

Fenwick junior Pat Hart, who racked up 143 yards rushing on 21 carries, scored with 3:46 left in second on a 1-yard blast. But De La Salle kept the game close when Brandtonies again found Lisenby from three yards out with 1:17 left in the first half.

After Stibich’s final touchdown in the third, Brandtonies scored on a quarterback sneak with 8:06 left in the final quarter. But Fenwick’s defense, which tallied five sacks on Brandtonies on the day, kept the Meteors at bay the rest of the way.

The victory gave the Friars sole possession of second place in the White Division of the Chicago Catholic League. They closed out the regular season with an overall record of 4-5.

Fenwick now turns its attention to the Prep Bowl playoffs. After a bye this week, the Friars could face either Leo or Gordon Tech in the first round next week.
