Edward Wernert, 88, WW II veteran, tool and die maker

Edward J. Wernert, 88, of La Grange Park, died at his home on Nov. 26, 2011. Born on Jan. 8, 1923 in Cicero, he served in the Army Air Corps in World War II and later worked as a tool and die maker at MFG Western Electric.

Mr. Wernert is survived by his wife, Betty Lou; his children, Ken (Jeanette), Donna (Steve) Newton, Bill (Henrique) and John (Pam); 12 grandchildren and one great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by his parents, Albert and Florence Wernert.

Visitation will take place on Dec. 8 from 3 to 8 p.m. and on Dec. 9 from 10:30 to the time of service, 11 a.m., at Hitzeman Funeral Home, 9445 W. 31^st St. in Brookfield, with Rev. Steve Riordan officiating, followed by interment at Chapel Hill Gardens West, Route 83 and Roosevelt Road in Oakbrook Terrace.
