James J. Hilton, 88, a former 50-year resident of North Riverside and resident of Bethlehem Woods Retirement Community, died Dec. 19, 2011 at LaGrange Memorial Hospital. Mr. Hilton was born Sept. 25, 1923 in Chicago and served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He received the Purple Heart three times during the war for wounds received in combat. After the war he worked as a union plumber.

Mr. Hilton was the husband of Irene (nee Perhats) and the late Florence Ann (nee Nemec); the stepfather of Lynda (John) Jamrozik and Jo (Jim) Addie; and the step-grandfather of Brittany Jamrozik, Brooke Jamrozik and Shane Addie.

Visitation will be Thursday, Dec. 22 from 10 a.m. until the time of an 11 a.m. funeral Mass at the Chapel of the Congregation of the Sisters of St. Joseph, 1515 W. Ogden Ave. in LaGrange Park. Interment will follow at St. Adalbert Cemetery in Niles.
