Lyons has opened the season in impressive fashion, highlighted by its aforementioned victory over RB and current three-game winning streak in the West Suburban (Silver) Conference.

The Lions (7-2, 3-1) will compete at the Wheaton North tournament this week. The No. 4 seed Lions take on Elgin today at 3 p.m. Waubonsie Valley, Glenbrook South and Hersey are the top three seeds in order.

“We’re looking forward to playing against some excellent teams at Wheaton North,” LT coach Katie Meyers said. “I think it’s good for us to get out and play some different teams with different styles. When our players work together, play good defense and share the basketball, I think we are a pretty good team.”

Colleen Connors, Clare Polega, Ashanti Davis, Sarah Beck and freshman Victoria Swift have led the Lions’ resurgence after a sub-.500 record during Meyers’ LT head coaching debut last season.
