Ethel L. Brakas (nee Lipsey), 82, a lifelong resident of Riverside, died Jan. 3, 2012.
Ms. Brakas was known as a gardener extraordinaire, a bridge player and animal lover. After her retirement, she also enjoyed traveling, making it to Africa and the United Kingdom.
She was the wife of the late John F. Brakas; the mother of Christine (Steve Hirsch) Brakas and James (Lorie) Brakas and her dear dog, Abby; and sister of the late Dorothy Miller and Jean Harris.
A funeral service will be held Saturday, Jan. 7 at 11 a.m. at Riverside Presbyterian Church, 116 Barrypoint Road, in Riverside.
