Lyons Township placed fourth at the Lake Forest invite on Saturday with a score of 140.550, trailing only two-time defending state champion Carmel 153.725, Prairie Ridge 146.225 and the host Scouts 145.100. Kelsy Kurfirst, the Lions’ top gymnast, placed fifth in the all-around (37.475) and turned in a great floor exercise with a score of 9.55.
The Lions also edged rival Hinsdale Central 140.350-138.50 in a West Suburban (Silver) Conference dual matchup last week. Kurfirst posted a 9.288 all-around with her top score a 9.5 on the vault.
