LT experienced a bit of everything last week finishing 2-2-1 during a busy week. The defending Class 4A state champs split a doubleheader against Addison Trail on Saturday losing Game 1 by a score of 4-3 before rebounding for a 10-0 Game 2 victory in six innings.
Naperville Central blanked visiting LT 2-0 on Thursday behind the strong arm of Ian Lewandowski, who scattered five hits and struck out eight in a sparkling complete-game performance.
The Lions’ Steve Heilenbach was the tough-luck loser, yielding just four hits and striking out eight. LT threatened to score early with three singles in the first; however, Lewandowski induced the Lions into a double play
The Lions (4-2-1) also notched a 6-4 win last week over Reavis and tied Sandburg 3-3 in 11 innings. Against Sandburg, LT rallied twice in extra innings to preserve a tie in a game eventually called due to darkness.
The Lions’ Stewart Nelson drilled a double scoring catcher Brad Taylor (three hits) in the 11th inning to tie the game at 3-3. LT starting pitcher Keith Lehmann allowed one earned run over nine innings while also contributing two hits, an RBI and a run scored.
