The Lyons Township girls soccer team bounced back from its first loss of the season with a 1-0 victory against Wheaton Academy on Saturday at the Pepsi Showdown.
Sarah Mazur scored the goal assisted by Grace Nasenbenny to power the offense, while star goalkeeper Maggie Orlowski recorded her sixth shutout this season for the Lions (7-1-1).
“It was nice to see us come back from our first loss and play well,” LT coach Bill Lanspeary said. “Our [defensive] backs and goalkeeper were solid as always, we possessed the ball nicely, and I thought we did some nice things in the attacking third to general more scoring opportunities.”
In prior Pepsi Showdown matches last week, the Lions defeated Lane Tech 4-0 and Glenbard West 1-0, before falling to Plainfield North 2-0. Mazur, Emily Lange, Abbie Pasquinelli and Audrey Anfield netted goals against Lane Tech, while Juliet Lusson provided the game-winning score against Glenbard West.
