The Lions (9-2-4) battled Fremd and Sandburg to draws in nonconference action. LT tied Fremd 0-0 on Saturday in a very physical game that featured play mostly centered in the midfield with limited scoring chances for both teams. LT also tied Sandburg 1-1 last Thursday as Mackie Furlong scored a goal assisted by Sarah Mazur.
“We played pretty well and allowed just two shots,” LT coach Bill Lanspeary said about the Sandburg game. “We just couldn’t get enough attack going. We had a lot of possession, but just couldn’t find ways to penetrate their defense.”
The Lions look to get back on winning track with games this week against Hinsdale Central, Proviso West and then Saturday’s 2 p.m. Pink Out match at Bennett Field against Rolling Meadows, which serves as an annual fundraiser for breast cancer awareness and research.
