Rudolph C. Drnek, 92, of Brookfield, died April 25, 2012 at his home.
Born in Chicago on Sept. 5, 1919 to Rudolph and Mae Drnek, Mr. Drnek was known for his love of music. A concertina player, Mr. Drnek was a member of the Chicago Federation of Musicians for more than 60 years. He was also past governor of the Brookfield Moose Lodge #1599 and a member of the United Moravian Societies and the Berwyn-Cicero Council on Aging.
He worked as a supervisor for a manufacturing company prior to retirement.
Mr. Drnek was preceded in death by his wife, Sylvia C. Drnek, and by his sister, Mildred (the late Tom) Kubes.
He is survived by his son, James E. (Deborah) Drnek, of LaGrange Park; his daughter, Sylvia (Andrew) Sherlag; his grandchildren, Kimberly (Brian) Dusza, James (Suzanne) Drnek, Amy (Keith) Burokas, Jesse (Katie) Drnek), Alyce (Rafael) Alexander, Katie (Roman) Vyskocil, Nick (Karli) Sherlag and Joseph Sherlag; 12 great-grandchildren; and his brother, Edward (Rosemary) Drnek.
A funeral Mass was celebrated April 28 at St. Louise de Marillac Church in LaGrange Park, followed by interment at Queen of Heaven Cemetery in Hillside.
