Rose K. Mottl (nee Nyc), 92, of Riverside, died Aug. 22, 2012.

Ms. Mottl was born Nov. 8, 1919 and was married to Irvin J. Mottl, who preceded his wife in death.

She was the vice president of Atlas Tool & Die Works Inc. in Lyons, and she was the first woman named to the board of the Tool & Die Institute, now known as the TMA. In recognition for her many years of service at the TMA, an award – the Rose Mottl Award for Leadership in Manufacturing – is given annually to a woman by the organization.

Ms. Mottl was active in many local organizations, including the Golden Agers, Ceska Beseda and the Riverside Women’s Club. She also served as an election judge for many years.

She loved traveling and spending weekends at her country home near Morris.

Ms. Mottl was the mother of Judith M. (Alexander) Kerr, Linda R. (Frank) Shannon and Daniel J. (Cindy) Mottl; the grandmother of Matthew (Carrie) Kerr, Sonia Mulder (Jeffrey) Gaschler, Joshua (Marni) Kerr, Zachary Mottl, Althea Mottl (Michael) Gillespie and Hilary Mottl (Wayne) Schemmer; the great-grandmother of Natalie Kerr, Kaitlyn Kerr, Julius Kerr, Hannah Gaschler, Laura Gaschler, Morgan Kerr, Brennan Gillespie and Annalyn Gillespie; the sister of Arthur (Maxine and the late Claire) Nyc and the late Lillian (the late Ollie) Jason; the aunt, cousin and friend to many and was especially close to Pamela Tvrdik.

A funeral service was held Aug. 27 at Ivins/Moravecek Funeral Home in Riverside, followed by interment at Chapel Hill Gardens West Cemetery in Oakbrook Terrace.
