The North Riverside Fire Department will commemorate the 11th anniversary of the Sept. 11, 2001 attacks on New York City and Washington, D.C., with a ceremony at the fire station, 2331 Desplaines Ave., on Tuesday, Sept. 11 at 9:45 a.m.

The keynote speaker will be Chicago Fire Department District Chief Peter Van Dorpe. In addition, a piece of steel recovered from the site of the World Trade Center, normally on display at the North Riverside Village Commons, will be on view.

Also participating in the event will be the Chicago Fire Department Pipes and drums and the MABAS Division 20 honor guard, who have played vital roles in the event through the past decade.
