LT boys soccer
The Lions (5-2-1) won their Pepsi Showdown opener via a 2-0 victory against Bartlett on Saturday. Brett Heimerdinger scored the Lions’ first goal (16th minute mark), assisted by Frankie Kocimski. Emilio Godinez also netted a goal off a throw-in from Kocimski in the second half. Last Thursday, LT knocked off Glenbard West 2-1 in the West Suburban (Silver) Conference opener.
RB boys soccer
The Bulldogs picked up two wins last week to square their record at 4-4-1. RB edged Illiana Christian 2-1 and beat U-High 2-0. This week, RB hosts Ridgewood on Thursday (6:15 p.m.) and Brother Rice on Saturday (12 p.m.).
RB boys golf
RB defeated De La Salle 161-189 as Luca Melone and Matt Quintana led the charge by scoring 39s. In conference dual losses to Ridgewood and Fenton, Austin Adamec carded a 40 and personal best 33 respectively, against the Rebels and Bison.
RB boys cross-country
Taking seven of the top 15 spots, the Bulldogs comfortably captured the 53rd RB Invitational. Jeremy Vasquez (second place), Kevin Faje (fourth), Andrew Bell (eighth), Spencer Purcell (10th), Kyle Georgopouls (11th), John Keen (12th) and Ken Sprague (15th) set an impressive collective pace for the Bulldogs.
LT girls tennis
The Lions finished second behind host/champion Hinsdale Central at the Red Devil Invitational. In their highly anticipated matchup, LT defending state runner-up Alex Chatt defeated the Red Devils’ Marika Cusick 7-6 (7-4), 6-3 at No. 1 singles, while the top LT doubles team of Kristin Thoms and Stephana Vasic outlasted Hinsdale Central’s Rachel Ballentine and Rugile Valiunaite 6-4, 4-6, (11-9) to earn the Lions’ other victory in a 3-2 loss.
RB girls volleyball
The Bulldogs (6-1) finished a perfect 5-0 to win the Leyden Invitational championship. After earning victories over Addison Trail, Highland Park, Willowbrook and Leyden, RB defeated Westmont 25-20, 25-15 in the final round as Monica Kasper (7 kills, 9 digs), Lizzy Hawk (16 assists), Emma Schander (3 kills, 7 digs) and Allie Shumowsky (4 kills) led a balanced attack.

RB swept a pair of dual meets with impressive wins over Illiana Christian 6-1 and Proviso West 7-0. The Bulldogs continued their strong start to the season by taking third place overall at the Willowbrook invite on Saturday. The meet was highlighted by a second-place showing from No. 1 doubles Sarah Benya and Emily O’Connor.
