Pearl Cole (nee Pribyl), 98, of Riverside, died Nov. 24, 2012 at her home.
Ms. Cole was born July 17, 1914 in Chicago to Joseph and Anna (nee Fuerst) Pribyl. She married Morey Cole on Dec. 23, 1943. He preceded his wife in death in 1973.
She worked as a secretary for her uncle, Adolph J. Sabath, a Chicago Democrat who served his district in the U.S House of Representatives from 1907 until his death in 1952. Ms. Cole regaled family members with memories of attending parties in the Rose Garden of the White House, where one time a general took her to dance in the East Room.
Ms. Cole was elated to have attended other functions at the White House, where she met President Franklin D. Roosevelt and Eleanor Roosevelt.
Family members, who lovingly referred to her as “Aunt Pearl,” recalled Ms. Cole as kind and compassionate, a gracious woman who loved nature, reading and spending time with her family and loved ones.
Ms. Cole is survived by her nieces, Gay Marie Clark, Joy Pribyl and Shirley (Richard) Tolpin; her nephew, Matthew (Brandi) Pribyl; her great-nieces and nephews, Rebecca, Adam, Harmony, Abram, Olivia, Joe, Brooke, Elaine, Helen, Neil, Patti, Cliff, Richard and Danny. She is also survived by her sister-in-law, Violet Pribyl and many other extended family members.
She was preceded in death by her husband; her brother, Joseph O. Pribyl; and her parents.
A celebration of life memorial will take place on Saturday, Dec. 8 at 1 p.m. at Light of Christ Church, 100 Hanson Road in Algonquin. Interment was at Forest Home Cemetery in Forest Park.
