The Fenwick swim team finished third at the 19th Annual Marquette Swimming Invitational at Schroeder Aquatic Center in Brown Deer, Wis., on Saturday.
The Friars were led by divers Max Showalter and David Durkin, who finished first (424.40 points) and third (329.25), respectively. Showalter’s score was well above second place finisher Chris Miszewski of Waukesha West High School, who finished with 353.80 points.
Others who made a significant impact for the Friars included Zach Tieke, who took third in the 100 freestyle with a time of 48.69 seconds. The 400 freestyle relay team of Tieke, Derek Guillen, Michael Hill and Matt Bresnahan also took third in 3:18.68, while Tieke, Tommy McGuire, Guillen and Bresnahan finished fourth in the 200 freestyle relay (1:30.68). McGuire finished fourth in the 100 breaststroke with a time of 1:03.54.
Madison West (Wis.) won the invite with 316 points, while Arrowhead (Wis.) finished second with 222.5 points. Fenwick tallied 218 points.
The Friars travel to Sandburg for an invitational on Saturday (11 a.m.). They host Benet and St. Francis on Jan. 15 (5 p.m.).
