Lewis University in Romeoville has announced the following students have been named to the dean’s list for the 2012 fall semester: Brookfield residents Sabrina Hill (English), Naomi Preedin (athletic training), Katelyn Peterson (aviation maintenance) and Stephanie Raga (English); Riverside resident Anna Batelli (psychology); and North Riverside resident Ryan Jackson (aviation administration).
To make the dean’s list students must attain a grade-point average of 3.25 on a 4-point scale.
Lewis University in Romeoville also announced last month that Mark Curelo, of Brookfield, has graduated with a bachelor’s degree in business administration from its Adult Accelerated Business program.
Riverside resident Haley A. Scaman was named to the University of Oklahoma honor roll for the 2012 fall semester by earning at least a 3.5 GPA as a full-time student.
Andrew Brondos, of Brookfield, a sophomore at Wisconsin Lutheran College in Milwaukee was named to the fall 2012 dean’s list, which signifies a GPA of 3.6 or higher.
Brookfield resident Kyle Antene and Riverside resident Daniel Tallarico have been named to the dean’s list for the fall 2012 semester at Marquette University in Milwaukee. Antene is a biomedical sciences major, while Tallarico is a finance major.
Sarah A. Johnson, of Brookfield, was named to the dean’s list at Eastern Illinois University for the 2012 fall semester. Johnson, a special education major, had a GPA of at least 3.8 while completing at least 12 credit hours.
Ann Conner, of Riverside, earned a spot on the Loyola Marymount University (Los Angeles) dean’s list for the 2012 fall semester. Students must attain a GPA of at least 3.5 to be on the list.
Evan Bartlett, a senior history major from Brookfield, was named to the 2012 fall semester dean’s list at Bryant University in Smithfield, R.I.
Riverside resident Megan Schoen and North Riverside resident William Meyer were named to the dean’s list for the 2012 fall semester at the University of Dayton for achieving a semester GPA of at least 3.5.
Emily Andrulis, of Brookfield, was named to the dean’s list, earning high honors, for the fall semester at Cornell College in Mount Vernon, Iowa. Andrulis attained high honors by attaining a GPA of at least 3.8 on a 4-point scale.
Seven students from Riverside-Brookfield High School competed and won awards at the Scholastic Art and Writing Competition for 2013, the longest-running, most prestigious recognition program for creative teens in the U.S. and the largest source of scholarships for young artists and writers.
Winning Gold Awards were Elise Castelaz (mixed media) and Marciel Rodriguez (fashion); Silver Award winners were Castelaz (mixed media), Jason Goo (digital art), Megan Kennedy (design), Krystyna Serhijchuk (drawing) and Candice Shelbrack (mixed media); Honorable Mention awards went to Paige Bottari (drawing) and Goo (mixed media).
Meanwhile, Brookfield resident Gus Dieter, a senior at Lyons Township High School, was a Silver Award winner at the Scholastic Art Awards regional competition. Dieter’s work was in the animation category. He was among 21 Silver Award winners from the school. Nine LTHS artists earned Gold Awards.
The students will have their works on display at the regional Scholastic Art Show from Feb. 10 to 15 at Downers Grove North High School, 4426 Main St. in Downers Grove. An opening reception will be held at the school on Feb. 10 from 1 to 4 p.m.
Among the students named first honors students at Trinity High School in River Forest on the second block honor roll for 2012-13 school year were Brookfield resident Chelsea Doyle (sophomore); and Riverside residents Isabella Bacidore, Samantha Liska, Hannah Spohnholtz and Sarrah Spohnholtz (seniors); Marcela Ramirez (junior); Jane Alm, Nikole Crane, Grace Lattner, Paulina Marquez, Emma Mosbrook and Carrie Reilly (sophomores); and Olivia Maher (freshman).
Earning second honors was Riverside resident Kelli McElligott (sophomore).
