Steven Fertaly, 91, a longtime resident of Brookfield, died March 9, 2013 at his home.
Mr. Fertaly served in the U.S. Coast Guard during World War II. He moved to Brookfield in 1952 and worked for 25 years for the Sunbeam Corporation in Chicago, where he was a product division manager.
He retired in 1981 and was a member of the Sunbeam Retirement Club. He also enjoyed traveling, reading and outdoor activities. As a Boy Scout, he attained the rank of Eagle.
Mr. Fertaly was preceded in death by his wife, Marie Fertaly (nee Bednar), who died Nov. 27, 2004. He is survived by nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held Thursday, March 14 from 9 a.m. at Johnson Funeral Home, 3847 Prairie Ave. in Brookfield until just prior to a 10 a.m. funeral Mass. The Mass will be celebrated at St. Barbara Church, 4008 Prairie Ave. in Brookfield, followed by interment at Queen of Heaven Cemetery in Hillside.
