I am writing in support of Jim Landahl’s candidacy for a position on the Riverside-Brookfield High School board.
I have known him for the last 10 years, and I believe that he is the ideal candidate for a position on the school board. Our school is in trouble, with no simple solution on the horizon. According to the U.S. News and World Report, RB’s rankings have dropped significantly in the last three or four years in comparison with other Chicago area schools.
The school board is a crucial element in the planning and implementation of policies that can help improve the educational quality at RBHS, with obvious benefits our children and the community.
Jim has the experience required. He has been the president of the board of education in Brookfield-LaGrange Park District 95. He believes in fiscal responsibility and he believes in educational excellence for all students.
His goals are clear. He has had our children’s future in mind by strengthening the curriculum in District 95. Last year, 92 percent of students in District 95 met or exceeded Illinois educational standards.
We need an injection of new blood into the RBHS school board in order to make it a working partner in the community. We have the potential of regaining the quality of education offered to our children.
Jim has demonstrated that it is possible to reach a collaborative attitude among board members in his past experiences and the same attitude is what is needed and will be will be beneficial for the future of Riverside-Brookfield High School.
I urge you to support Jim Landahl’s candidacy for the board. We need him.
